USING THE LANGUAGE OF MASS/WEIGHT TO COMPARE:
We are revisiting Measurement and are using equipment to weigh and compare weight. We have been 'hefting' objects to estimate, then using a variety of scales to measure and compare. Here are some of our findings...
USING MATERIALS
We have been using materials to make arrays, and solve multiplication problems. We work collaboratively in our workshop session and show our thinking to solve equations.
STATISTICS
WALT collect data using Tally Charts
WALT create a Bar Graphs
MEASUREMENT (Heavier or Lighter than...)
WALT compare the weight and capacity of objects.
We have been 'hefting' objects in the classroom, then weighing on balance scales to check.
We also have been identifying objects that are heavier or lighter then something.
After weighing our pencil cases on an electronic scale (using grams), we used Pic Collage to show items that were heavier OR lighter then our pencil case. Here are some of the results.
